Happy Thursday! I have been on a roll creatively and I hope it continues. My physical therapy is helping my energy level. And I needed it. I forgot how exercising is not just good for your body, but for your brain too. It helps jump start the brain’s right side!
We, the designers at Papercraft Challenges, have a new challenge for June, “anything goes” with an optional twist of “use your oldest paper”. Our prize is the die, “Believe in Yourself” from Lawn Fawn. I could not get to my designer paper easily, so I decided to use a bit of a 1927 tabloid newspaper that I purchased for mixed media canvas. That’s pretty old, huh?
The first thing I take care of is making decisions for cardstock and coloring tools. I decided to use a sandy beach and black cardstock from Gina K Designs. I am in love with Gina’s cardstocks! (My supplies listed below are affiliated links at no cost to you.)
The stamp and die set, “Painted Rose”, was included in one of Concord & 9th’s monthly releases. I love their creativity and innovative style. Before I started my stamping or die cutting I added glue to the back of the paper and placed that on a scrap of cardstock. After that was dry I stamped the rose on my “old paper” and added a coat of matte medium. I felt it needed more tooth for coloring with Arteza’s colored pencils. The colors from Arteza’s pencil set are A035 Elephant Grey, A047 Space Grey, A107 Smoke, A023 Pewter, and A012 Noir.
Fussy cutting was next for the rose image. I die cut using the rose die in black cardstock for a shadow and popped up these two layers with foam tape. The “thinking of you” die was cut three times and glued the layers together for added dimension. When all was dry I added glossy accents to the word. Finishing touch was the Nuvo drops.
“Thinking About You” will be entered in the following challenges:
Crafty Creations – Anything Goes
Moo-Mania – Die Cuts
Simon Says Stamp – Anything Goes (Wednesday’s challenge)
Die Cuttin’ Divas – Anything Goes
I hope you join us for our Papercraft Business Challenge #7. This challenge will end on June 28. Remember if you use your oldest paper you get an extra chance to win.
