Happy December and Merry Christmas. We have a new challenge at Not Just Cards for December. The theme will always be “anything goes”. We want to see anything you create and cards are included in the challenge. The deadline is January 8, 2019.
I love coloring Poinsettias, especially with watercolors. Each leaf color is different. I love to try and replicate those colors. Next year I really need to try coloring with my alcohol markers, Copics or Altenew’s Artist Markers.
Let’s get on with my project. As you can see I spattered the background with GKD Red Velvet Ink. I smashed the red ink on a acrylic block, added a little water, and using a paint brush I spattered the background. When the background was dry I stamped sprigs from the “Something Good” stamp set, designed by Lisa Hetrick, in Grass Green and Lucky Clover.
The Winter Flower was stamped with Amalgam Jet Black Ink and painted with Arteza Watercolors in 102 Chocolate, 126 Crocodile Green, 182 Wine Red, 118 Autumn Red, 101 Red, and 156 Sunset Yellow. I fussy cut the poinsettia and the white edges were hidden with a Sharpie black brush pen.
The next two photographs are showing the assembly. If you have not tried Gina K Designs Connect Glue you are missing out. I use it for paper and embellishments. As you can see, I added a strip of gold peel offs. I cut the main panel crooked so the peel off came to the rescue! I added some washi tape to the left side. I think this tape is one of Tim Holtz’s, but I’m not sure.
My Winter Flower card is now finished. For the final touches I added some Tonic Nuvo Bright Gold Crystal Drops. Gotta’ have me some Nuvo drops. I’ve got a pretty good collection going, but I don’t have them all.
Winter Flower will be entered in the following challenges:
Sweet Stampin’ Christmas – ATG Christmas (DT call also)
Color Crazy Challenge – Anything Goes Coloring
Ike’s World – Anything Goes/Christmas Time
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you get a chance to join us at Not Just Cards. I know that our designers would love a visit to their blogs.
Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! and Happy New Year!
Create and be happy! See you again in 2019.
